Styling with Nature: Foraging Finds & Simple Touches

If you’ve ever ordered online or shopped in-store at Tomolly, you might’ve noticed a little extra tucked into your parcel. A sprig of gum, a fennel stem, or even a feather. I just love adding a foraged touch. It brings a bit of the outdoors in and makes every parcel feel a little more special.

Foraging is one of my favourite things to do. I’m always keeping an eye out for beautiful bits from the bush - branches, feathers, wild fennel, gum leaves, and sometimes even plums or apples. They’re not just pretty to look at, they bring a sense of life and texture into the home. And if you can bake something delicious with them too, even better!

You don’t need a grand plan or perfect styling tricks. Just pop your finds in an old vase, a vintage jar, or a galvanised bucket and let nature do the work. The simplicity is what makes it sing.

One thing that always sparks conversation in the shop is the old ladder hanging from the ceiling. It’s covered in dried apple gum branches and hangs just above the counter. Behind it, I’ve strung up some jute twine and made a simple garland using all kinds of roadside finds. Leaves, seed pods, a few bits of bark. It’s not fancy, but it brings warmth to the space and reminds me of the little treasures waiting just outside the door.

My biggest tip? Don’t overthink it. Let it be a little wild, a little rough around the edges. A single feather in a tiny vessel can be just as beautiful as a big bouquet.
