This June at Tomolly, we’ve been celebrating the small joys of winter, the simple comforts that bring warmth to everyday life. And there’s something undeniably joyful about a handmade treat.
This week, we’re honoured to introduce you to Jenna from The Country Plate, whose small-batch rocky road is handmade with heart in the beautiful town of Rylstone, NSW. Whether it’s a quiet afternoon indulgence or something sweet to gift, Jenna’s creations are full of flavour, nostalgia, and care.
We asked Jenna to share a little more about her story, her inspirations, and what winter joy looks like in her world.
What do small joys mean to you, especially during winter?
To me, small joys are all about noticing the little moments that bring warmth to everyday life. In winter, it's time spent with my children and family that fills my cup — especially when we're gathered around an open fire, cooking dinner in the camp oven, laughing, sharing stories, and soaking in the crisp night air. It’s these simple, grounding moments that mean the most.
What inspired you to start The Country Plate?
The Country Plate began in 2015 from my deep love of cooking and sharing the food I made. I originally ran a bistro at our local bowling club, but the business has grown and evolved so much since then. I’ve always been inspired by the incredible home cooking of my mum and grandmothers — their love for food and family shaped everything I do. Today, The Country Plate is not just about food, but about celebrating the beauty of country life and inspiring others to visit and enjoy our slice of paradise in Rylstone.
What’s your go-to treat when you need a little pick-me-up?
Rocky road — always! My go-to in winter is Campfire Road, our flavour inspired by evenings spent around the crackling flames of an open fire with good company. It’s nostalgic, cosy, and the perfect little sweet pick-me-up.
Jenna’s words are a beautiful reminder of what matters most; time with loved ones, food made with heart, and the joy of sharing simple things. We feel so lucky to have her delicious creations at Tomolly (including our very own Tomolly Rocks blend!).
